"Rainbow Connections" - by Garfunkel and Oats

Best gay wedding song ever!

"Rainbow Connections" - from the Garfunkel and Oats TV comedy program

Chords for tenor range

Intro: G / C / Am / D /

G              C
Just after the storm breaks,
         Am                D
With the perfect amount of light,
        G                  C
You can catch a glimpse of magic
       Am        D
If the timing is right.

G                            C           Am             D
Rainbows are improbable, beautiful, and rare,
    G                          C               Am           D
But so are you, and so is this, the love that we share.

    C Am
Too vast to hold, and too small to name
Em             A7
It's no wonder why
    C
You have to stand between the rain and the sun
                D
To see a rainbow in the sky.

        C
All the things that had to go right,
        G
All the things that had to go wrong
     F                                Am   D
That lead us to the place where we were going all along.

             C (or Cadd2)   D
Right now they fall away,
               Em           A7
Right now it's just us two,
             C (C2)
Right now we make a promise:
   D           Em    D       G
If you do, then I do too.

G C Am D

G                 C
Don't know how we found it,
        Am     D
But we did somehow.
        G              C
All the moments of our lives,
     Am            D
Were leading up to now.
  G              C
I used to feel uncertain,
    Am       D
But now I realize
       G            C
When I wanna see my future,
       Am             D
I just look into your eyes.

   C Am
Too vast to hold, and too small to name
Em             A7
It's no wonder why
    C
You have to stand between the rain and the sun
               D
To see a rainbow in the sky.

        C
All the things that make you - you,
        G
All the things that make me - me,
     F                                  Am D
That lead us to the place where we were always meant to be.

            C (or Cadd2)   D
Right now they fall away,
               Em           A7
Right now it's just us two,
             C (C2)
Right now we make a promise:
   D           Em    D       C                 D
If you do, then I do too.

(BRIDGE)
  Em                             D
A rainbow doesn't choose to be a rainbow,
                      A7
It just shines in the sky,
            B7
And there's nothing to debate,
            C
And there's nothing to deny.
B7
Love might be a privilege,
    C
But marriage is right,
      B7
So to all of you detractors
          C
Who don't know you've lost the fight,
   B7
To all of you in the darkness
D7
We're here turning on the lights.
       Cmaj7
Now I stand with you,
        Am
For the world to see,
      C      D           Em
My love, my dreams, and me
   C          D                      G
My love, my dreams, and me.

            C (or Cadd2)   D
Right now they fall away,
               Em           A7
Right now it's just us two,
             C (C2)
Right now we make a promise:
   D           Em    D       G
If you do, then I do too.

Notes:

For alto range, capo 2nd-4th fret on guitar
Many of the C chords can be a Cmaj7 as well as other embellishments like D7 and minor 7th chords for minors... get creative!
Important! 6/8 feel changes to 4/4 at the bridge and back to that fast 6 beat feel
The words “nothing to debate” hang on an A note over the B7 chord - practice singing that carefully

Puppets are optional
